Here is an image I captured during yesterday’s class shoot. Now you see why Texas School is such a great place to teach. Not only do we get this really nice opportunity to meet some incredible photographers from around the country that are students in our class we also get to catch up with old friends and previous students. It’s been wonderful! All of that and we also get a chance to capture some great images – like this one of beautiful Lauren.
I think when you put the context of the location – the walkway along the hotel lounge – added to regular hotel activity, it gives you a greater sense of appreciation for the image. No fancy locations, no studio, but a hotel lobby, and what a terrific image.
What makes this image happen? I think, first off, it’s the soft directional lighting falling on her face easily created by my off-camera flash coming in from camera right – 1/8 power through my Zumbrella. Add to that the unusual background, nice balance of ambient and flash, the wonderful color harmony, and Lauren’s great expression and impish pose and you can come up with a very beautiful image of this incredibly beautiful young lady.
Camera specs: Canon 5D Mark III fitted with Tamron 28-300mm VC lens at 300mm, F6.3 @ 1/25 second (handheld), ISO 1600. Enjoy! -David
Hey gang, It’s 5:15 a.m. in the morning and after turning in after a very long day yesterday – about 17 hours – and a very early Instructor meeting this morning (7:00 a.m.), I’ve got to call it short today. Tomorrow we teach till noon and then head to the airport to catch a plane back to Cincy right after class. How about I catch up with you, maybe over the weekend for the final update on Texas School and some more great images.
It's been a wonderful week, albeit and very busy week. We made some good friends and I can’t wait till next time! Have a great rest of the day everyone and I’ll see you soon!
